Saloon photography often uses competition and awards to promote photography, they set some rules for judging how good a photo is, in order to avoid subjective selection. The rules are not non-sense, of course they will restrict the creativity of the photographer, but not eliminlate it. It also provide a well guidence for taking a good photograph, I don't think it is bad. If a photographer restricts himself in saloon photography, I think the greatest responsibility is himself, he lack his own mind.
Everybody should learn how to learn, including photography. You need not be a great photographer, as most people do including me, you need to know how to take a better photograph (often subjective) and how to appreciate the art of of photography in enriching our life. Get a life and take it easy. Shoot more great pictures (again it is subjective) and use them to influence other's view of photography is a more positive way, much better than the discussion here (but open discussion here is not waste time, at least you can see other's opinion, whether you agree or not). |

Try not to blind worship as pigpig mentioned,
As an individual thinking person, we need to both able to appreciate goods and understand the limiation of dragon.

根據佢對佢o記龍友定義黎講，我覺得佢已合符佢講o記以下幾項：
Always think that they are really cool, they know nothing and poor skill..
And they really don't know what's going on outside.They always think they are cool.
I'm not 分黨分派，骨子裡在分黨分派。I'm not 排別，實際是有目共睹。
唔知算唔算係超人所講o記：口不對心？
好一個自以為眾人皆醉的傢伙！
用踩低別人自以為是o記自大手法去教人唔好自大，效果真係立桿見影！讚呀！
I 都really agree with 超人:該死的不是自殺襲擊的人, 是教育襲擊行為的人！

點解你要將你心目中really cool,always show off their Equipment,but they know nothing and poor skill..的人, 用"龍友"這個字眼, 你是希望別人認同你拍攝"沙龍"題材的人是你所指的一類人嗎? 如果不是, 請不要用"龍友"這個字眼, 這是對所有參與"國際沙龍比賽"的人是一種侮辱.

YY90, your meaning is clear.
There are many people behave like what pigpigstone described, including saloon and non-saloon style photographer, that's why there is so much argument and reaction aroused.
Pigpigstone, if you don't mind to avoid using the "Dragon friend" terms, the discussion could be more positive.
I hope the argument here won't hurt our future discussion.
