at the time of EOS 5, Pentax"s equivalent camera is Z-1 which is slow in motor drive and quite different user interface. Z-1 is nothing special and invented the rubbish technology in Power-Zoom. Other than that, Z-1 is very strong and durable camera.
Dynax 7 is very good in large LCD and good user interface. But I doubted that why not adding a CCD into it and become the 1st DSLR.....
At the current market, the best prosumer SLR (to me) is EOS 3. but I don"t like EOS 3 at all because it give up the internal flash!

Best or not is pretty much depends on the individual"s preference. Some prefer built quality, some are feature crazy, and some just want the latest toys. I am a Pentax user and I like the EOS3 too, but it is difficult to determine which is the best. All have their pros & cons. As for me? I am still using the grandold Z-1p while most people are shooting digital. But who care if the shooter is happy? |

Dynax 7 beats EOS3 and F100 in terms of small size, lighter weight, better handling, direct manual focusing (like a clutch in my car) and internal flash. Minolta will lose its market forever as most of advanced users have already shifter their platform

The problem with Pentax 135 SLR system is that its market share is very small, this is especially true in HK & Taiwan. The *ist is pretty common here in North America and picking one up at local stores is no problem at all. So it is more like a regional issue. HK is a pretty small market afterall. According to Pentax, *ist is a mid-end body to replace the MZ-7. It is a feature packed poorly built body. It was said there would be a low end & a high end bodies from the *ist series, but we"ll never know until the very end. Personally, I don"t see why Pentax would ever turn the LX in an AF version. It is just techanically impossible. Consider the DSLRs are taking over film based SLRs, the chance for another high end film based Pentax might be slim. The MZ-S might be the last, or 2nd last high end model from Pentax. Unfortunately, built quality alone does not attract much attention these days when most consumers prefer feature-packed value cameras. |

I admired the small size of Dynax 7 and really full pack of stuff into it. But, it can"t beat EOS 3 in AF system as well as motor drive speed.
Putting LX into AF is what many PK-fans dream for. But unluckily that LX is so expansive and quite easy to be broken when compared to New F-1 and F3. Keeping the most expansive shutter and OTF metering system into new camera also meaningless at nowadays. Battery are all over the world and long time expose is by far less easy to meter as film characteristic change so often.
As a matter of fact that Pentax lose miles away in AF technology, Pentax AF-SLR are in dawn poor business when compare to MF-SLR as well as 120 market. Pentax move out from TopClass SLR"s race is smart as Pentax will never score any better than LX. Making USD1K+ camera body by Pentax just means bleeding more. The MZ-S already showing us a highly apreciate camera but also a bad selling one.
Digital age is finally come to the state of more DC selling than film base camera. Nikon knows it clearly and stay quite long time not to modify F5. EOS 1V also show that the improvement doesn"t lead to bigger sale, so as Dynax 9. To build better 135 film camera, it is quite non-sense.

Absolutely. Consider those high end bodies were made for press photographers who shoot digital now, it makes no sense to produce newer super expensive film based cameras. |

(我係同意canon對焦係快.但其實minolta對焦慢一些都有好處呀,起碼對焦準確d呀)

如果對焦慢就等如好些, 我有全世界最準既af啦, PENTAX ME-F.
NIKON新的夾層式SENSOR將會成為CANON大敵, CANON不斷推出CMOS, 最終都沒有因為CMOS而另NOISE更少, 反而FUJI走向高D-RANGE以設合菲林的效果. 在眾多競爭中, MINOLTA反而落後許多, 在眾多大廠及專利註冊之下, MINOLTA將會一如PENTAX的牽著鼻子走. 回看電腦史, 有資格壟斷者, 只會不斷的壟斷, x86及windows技術就是最好証明, 就算konica入股minolta加了把強心針, 在往後日子的路依然難行.
