請問您有沒有在國外論壇上見過NC4.0不適用於最新作業平台或晶片情況的討論?
日前幫朋友的Vaio筆電灌NC4.0（希望升成4.4）用的是D2H隨機版，灌完後一按桌面捷徑要啟動就出現藍底白字全面當机,無論中英文版皆然；又到Nikon USA下載一次,再安裝也是一樣，證明不是手頭版本有瑕疵的因素造成（該版本我已在多台不同規格的PC/NB安裝過,從未見過這個怪現象）。
後來直接下載4.4試用版,一次就安裝成功,只是4.2版以上序號就改過了,必須要再買過才能一直用下去。
正在納悶這個問題,見您提到從4.0去升級,剛好請教一下;感謝！

Re: Phone must be ringing off the hook fjp, I agree with you that this type of installation process should not be necessary every time Nikon introduces a new upgrade. The process I went through with the tech last night took about 30 minutes. About half way through the process I realized that the same process was necessary in September for another upgrade. The Nikon tech in September said that in my case this very difficult process was necessary, because I had an older version of Capture 4 where the Product Key was in all letters and that Nikon sometime this year changed all Product Key’s to digits only. When opening Capture 4 in September I was denied access because of a window that stated that my trial offer had ended and that I had to pay Nikon $99.00. I explained to Nikon that I had paid $99.00 for Capture nearly two years ago. Nikon required me to send them proof of purchase that I had paid for Capture. I sent them an e-mail that I received from them about two years ago that included a PDF of the said e-mail acknowledgement of payment with a photo copy of the Capture label on my CD. The tech said that because of my older version of Nikon Capture 4 that it may be necessary for me to go through the same process every time Nikon has a new upgrade. Having to spend about 30 minutes with a Nikon rep every time a new upgrade comes out is totally ridiculous. SOLUTION: In cases like mine I think Nikon should immediately mail us a CD with the most current upgrade. The response time when I called Nikon last night was good. After I went through pressing the options on my phone key a Nikon rep answered the phone in less than 5 seconds. I've got a dual processor (Pentuim D 830) with 2GB of ram and can't get NC 4.4 to load. I got this from Nikon Tech Support: Thank you very much for contacting Nikon Technical Support. Our software is not optimized for dual core or dual processor computers. Please try the following- Completely remove all of Nikon Capture from your computer. You can do this by uninstalling the application from the start menu. You can then use the article below to edit your registry keys- Title: Cannot install new version of Nikon Software URL: http://support.nikontech.com/... ..._adp.php?p_faqid=361&p_created=1034995210 Then go to My Computer and then go to c:\program files\common files and delete the Nikon folder. Then rename the installshield folder to "backup" then when this is done install Nikon Capture 4.4 from the link below, do not install from the CD. Thanks for using Nikon products! Nikon Inc. Review of Capture NX in UK "Amateur Photographer" mag Out today - a big 5 page review - here's the summary: "I have really only scratched the surface of what this new software application offers the user, but I have included the all the principal new features. I can’t comment on how fast or slow the program as as this is a Beta version, but even so it has proved quicker to use on my Mac G4 than the full version of Capture 4 is. I am massively impressed with Capture NX, and especially with the ease of use that U-Point technology and Colour Control points bring to what is usually a complex selection process. I am, in fact, so impressed with NX that I have been processing images from others cameras and scanners with it. So long as you have a TIFF or JOEG to work with, NX will make selections and localised adjustments much easier and more convincing. There does appear to be a limit to the size of the image that can be processed with this Beta version, but I’m not sure what it is yet – certainly well beyond the file size that can be produced by the D2x. Nikon suggested some time agoi that this is a package for photographers in general rather than just Nikon photographers. I agree with this entirely, but think it is a little unlikely that non-Nikon users will buy it. At a proposed price of £120 I think it’s worth buying just for the U-Point controls, and even if you only own Canon cameras. Nikon’s Capture NX is a really excellent package that provides exceptional facilities and functions for manipulating and preparing images from any source. The depth of control is greater than in any other RAW conversion package that I have used so far, and the direct tailoring of features and workflow for photographic purposes makes it stand out from the host of graphics-based programs already on the market. It does not offer all that Photoshop does, but neither does it try to, or need to. What is does offer is what the photographer requires, in a smooth and efficient working environment. 今年的東京2006 PIE曾見到Nikon Capture NX的實際操作，所謂的U-Point就有點像PS的mask，它能在滑鼠點到的地方建立一個點，能自動判斷該點附近的影像來決定mask的大小、漸層、深度，還能自動判斷被攝物和背景以免選到不想套用的地方，以往在PS很繁複的mask選取動作都變的非常直覺，另外U-Point本身具有類似Mask+Adjustment Layer的的性質，可以事後自由移動、改變半徑範圍、改變漸層梯度、改變選取的顏色等等。感覺定位不只是RAW的編輯器，而是直接取代Photoshop在影像調整方面的功能。
不過，跟NC 4.x一樣，所有的操作都是立即套用到影像上，CPU和記憶體的需求看起來就很高。

Re: Nikon's Capture NX Nikon Capture is a formidible piece of software. It is simpler than Photoshop but very powerful. Many people do not seem to realise that its the best means of getting the most out of Nikon images. When people slag off Nikon cameras, its immediately obvious that they have not mastered Nikon Capture. I have some reservations about buying Nikon Capture just to use with Fuji files. Firstly, it cannot convert Fuji RAW files, secondly it cannot finish off a picture as well as Photoshop. This leaves a number of procedures that you might wish to do in the middle of post-processing an image. I'm not sure I would buy it just for that purpose. Now Capture NX may of course have some add on features or improvements that would make it a worthy alternative to Photoshop. I would be very happy if it did and it looks very promising.
