Not buying most of the DX lenses is a right decision, but you don't know what you are missing if you didn't buy 18-200 VR. Bear in mind: D3 supports DX lenses. |

-Yes, D3 supports DX lenses. But can someone explain to me why buying a full frame body for DX lenses? The reason why D3 supports DX lenses is to cover the face of Nikon. Those who can afford D3 will never consider using DX lenses. If you appreciate the performance of DX lenses, D300 seems to be a better option than D3. In fact, D3 supports DX formate is a disvantage for Nikon. It might affect the sales of the lenses like AF-S VR 400mm F2.8G, 500mm F4G, and 600mm F4G. Because you could get longer focal length with cheaper lenses.- |

Whether one would use DX lens on D3 is contraversal. Everyone may have a different answer due to individual reason. However having the choice to use DX lens is not bad afterall. And, this is not a main concern to most of us, I think. |

I was thinking the other way, not to save faces, but responsible to their customers. Since a lot of Nikon shooters (NOT ME) have invested heavily into DX lenses, it is nice to know those DX lenses will still be useful in the next generation model. |
