Re: 12-24mm wide angle lens question The nikon holds it;s value best and costs the most. It has distortion making it not as suitable for architecture, but for landscapes it is fine. It is contrasty. The tokina is regarded by many as similar (or perhaps better) than the nikon, at about half the price. Both the tokina and nikon can take front filters, which I think is a waste of time for ulta wide, but most people who are makign a buying decision on these forums seem to think it is very important. The Sigma 12-24 falls inthe middle price wise, is larger and heavier (can be used on a full frame camera), and is ideal for architecture. It has miinal andeasily corrected distortion. However it is not as fast a lens as the nikon/tokina, though one would hope that you are using a tripod for this shooting anyway and that mitigates thigns. Sigma is releasing a 10-20 lens that is dX (for crop sensors only) like the tokina/nikon models, and I would wait for that if I were you (perhaps two months). Tokina 124 vs Nikon DX 12-24mm [warning 2MB pic] help me choose! I have both Tokina AT-X 124 and Nikon DX 12-24mm in my hands right now, i have done a little test and can't figure out which one is better, if anyone can, please tell me which is better from my test result... I tested from F4 to F22 and found that no single one is better than the other, and differences is so great and varies from aperture to aperture. And for example, @ 12mm, Nikon is sharper on the telephone while Tokina is sharper on the lower-right side, slight variations everywhere@.@ one thing i found is that when testing using Aperture Priority, the Nikon always uses +1/4 more shutter speed compare to Tokina, and Tokina is not 12mm, it is more like 13 or 13.5mm...
