What's In Your Lock? These are some of the parts you would find inside a lock. The diameter of the pins and springs do not exceed 0.125". This picture was taken with the Nikon Micro Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 VR. http://www.flickr.com/photos/softpaw/168016345/ |

My Bag Is Packed and I'm Ready to Go My "big job" bag and my current wedding layout. Soon will replace S2 with second D200 and find somewhere to put a 105mm VR micro. What's geekier? Me taking this photo or me owning those sunglasses? Not pictured: Powerbook; many, many AA batteries; various filters and chargers; well-shaven man. http://www.flickr.com/photos/carpeicthus/133915177/ |

5889 It's a cloudy day. Good to enhance saturation in PP. After compared several shots with different apertures, I settled down with f/4 with better bokeh. Intentionly overexposed to reduce noise. EV-0.85 in PP to reduce blow-out highlights. http://www.flickr.com/photos/lzy2/161264912/ |

nikkor 105VR for macro action? I would like to see some real life results from the 105VR for action macro like flying bees. I have the tamron 90mm and only would change for nikkor 105VR if the AF is significantly much quicker and accurate. With my tamron 90mm on my D200 it's difficult to get perfect images from flying insects. Thanks in advance. Here one of my better results with D200 &tamron 90mm until now but it's still nothing special... http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1030&message=19085783Re: nikkor 105VR for macro action? I managed to get this the other day with the Tamron 90, but it was hard work, the AF just isn't quick enough to keep up. I'd be interested in seeing what a better AF system could do as well. http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1030&message=19086256 |

3781 (Tulip) Re-processed. Nice to capture a thread of light in the middle. Saturation adjusted to "Enhanced" in Nikon Capture for better color rendition. The white balance was auto and it's close to Daylight/Direct Sunlight. Cropped the right side a little bit to get rid of remanent of another pedal. http://www.flickr.com/photos/lzy2/160177345/in/photostream/ |

Micro VR test shot Test shot of the "AF-S VR Micro Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G ED lens". Basically testing the vibration reduction out as I focused on the tiny little bug on the dandelion with no flash.... just the use of natural light. The insect looks pretty good considering I'm used to freezing the macro subject with flash. The Vibration reduction does work on this lens. I took 5 shots of this little bug, 4 out of the 5 were sharp when viewed at 100%. I'm going to be leaving for West Virginia for two whole weeks. That should give me plenty of time to test this lens out fully. http://www.flickr.com/photos/52904861@N00/132925823/ |

Bee Macros-need help with sb600 I was told by Gromsky that I would get better results with these shots if I used my sb600. I set my sb600 to TTL and 85mm with my 105mm vr lens attached. I tried to add to the exposure by setting the flash to +3.0 and every time I would take the shot it would show a -0.7. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but all the shots seem to be underexposed. I had to do much pp compared to the bee macro thread I did eailier. You can compare by going to that thread on page 2. I had my camera set to manual 1/500sec F/22 as he stated would be the best choice. I'm still unable to capture the wings in a frozen state and thats what I'm shooting for. Would really like to get some help and any advice would be appreciated. These are the shots taken with the sb600 attached. http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1034&message=18358509 |
