Tamron Posted by F. Kamphues The Tamron 90SP is my only non-Nikon lens. Optically it's certainly a match for the Nikon (if not better). The lens is sharp, with very good colour rendition and contrast. The bokeh is beautiful too. I also like the quick shift ring to change from AF to MF. Some samples: http://www.millhouse.nl/tamron90sp.html However, I would love to try the new Nikon 105 VR. Seeing the samples so far, I will probably soon trade my Tamron in for the Nikon. -- Regards, Fred Kamphues http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1030&message=18731584 |

http://blog.duncan.idv.tw/blogs/index.php?m=20060525 |

Nikon 105VR at Infinity: 100% crops (500k) People seemed interested in how the Nikon 105VR performs at infinity, given the stigma attached to some other Micro Nikkors. Full frame and crops as follows: D2X ISO 100 handheld Crops from JPGs converted from RAW via Nikon Capture, no processing/sharpening. As noted, these snaps were handheld, not tripod mounted. hey Jacques Posted by tao.design Hey Jacques, I really enjoy the tone of this first one. The color and contrast is very pleasing, and the overall character is great. It reminds me of fireworks. As it happens, I just picked up this lens. Hopefully I'll get a chance to give it a workout this weekend. I'm just through my first week of evaluation, but it seems like a great lens. Any new samples from the lens? Todd http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1021&message=18776315 |

No, VR works for close up photography > I read in one of the forums that you have to switch off the VR for > Macro work --is that true? No, that is not true. VR continues to work right to lifesize magnfication -- the catch is that the effectiveness declines as magnification ratio increases.
