300D~~~ Scanning ho time-consuming ga~

In fact, DC also not bad ga~~ Why ppl need to distinguish between DC and D-SLR Both of them can create beautiful~~
Because D-SLR is more expensive, give ppl a superior image? |

the choice really depends on ur personal preference.
i myself like viewing the slides using light boxes, and i also bought a filmscanner to digitize them and to put them on the web for sharing. though it is time consuming, i find it is worth it.
the more trivial benefit of dslr is that they can preview the pic onsite and to retake if necessary. cost savings from dslr only comes when the photographer takes lots and lots of pictures using it (ofcourse not keep taking rubbish pics). |

I want use another approach to discuss this topic. To start with, please make sure what kind of medium you would like to vuse for viewing your images. If you always use your computer screen, TV, LCD projector, etc. to view your photo images in the form of digital files, then buy dslr. If you usually view your images in the form of paper prints, you also have to buy dslr as you can have more control on the images. However, if you take positive films and want to view your images by traditional projector, then you need a film scanner because with the limitation of color range, the quality of images from the electronic viewing media (computer screen, TV, LCD projector) is still a little bit behind than film+projector. You need a film scanner only as a kind of additional storage tool. Just like superman say "純以畫質而言, 菲林依然拋雜DSLR很多". |

Unless you want to spend hours and hours to play with the computer software of scanning, otherwise just buy a DSLR and use the time to go taking picture la. See the comparison of D60 and Medium Format below: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/cameras/d60/d60.shtmlThe conclusion is: "35mm Photographers: If you"ve been waiting to make the move to digital but haven"t felt that the cost / quality / image size equation worked for you yet — well, I think the time has come — especially if you already own some Canon EOS lenses. On A3 (11X17") and smaller prints the D60 is a champ and there"s little advantage to film anymore." (quote from Michael Reichmann) |

Film scanner is **NEVER** be a good backup storage device of important film!!!! This is for sure, many of the buyer want to keep digital file of films and become an important and permanent backup. But most of them give up scanning films after 3 months of purchase.
RE:Chan Ting The luminous-landscape has some interesting find on DSLR better than 120 system. And in fact one sold out the Pentax 67 and get the 1Ds system. But one thing the web doesn"t mention is about hi-light and shadow depth of clarity. Yes, DSLR owning clean and trouble free images, but the color depth when shooting just a sunset can tell what the film really doing. To shoot things without strong lighting effect, DSLR is OK. And DSLR owning very good hi-ISO noise control, so as faster longer time expose.

The trading in of Pentax 67 for a 1Ds is quite a radical move. And I think most of the professionals (I guess users of Pentax 67 are usually professionals, or at least some really enthusiastic amateurs) will not do that (at least for the time being).
As to the comparison of and discussion of Film (or scanned film) VS. DSLR, there are already a lot of discussion in the forum and I think people will choose among themselves acccording to their needs and taste. But I think, to general amateurs who are not too picky as to image quality, nowadays DSLR (e.g. D100, D60) can satisfy them already since many of them prefer to watch and share photos thro" monitor and on the web (at least I am impressed by many "sunset" photos on this website taken by DSLR).
Final words, DSLR photos (viewed thro" monitor) cannot beat the the 3-D feeling of looking at a slide thro" lightbox and loupe.

HK$7,000 !!!
Smart move of Canon, can tempt people who use DC before to join in the SLR (or DSLR) world, then they will enter a world of never-ending pursuit of lens, lens and lens...(zoom lens)...(prime lens)....(L lens)...........giving their $$$$$$ to Canon. |
