如果你真的對攝影為未來日後人生一項重要興趣的話我想你用SLR會好一點，如果你一開始便用DC你日後慢慢攝影路上只會練好了一身好的PHOTOSHOP技術，因為用DC那一刻你會覺得影得不好不緊要，事後再電腦慢慢執便行…
但如果你只是將攝影興趣用來殺殺時間當然是DC好，學習成本較便宜保存又方便，質素？如果放在電腦上看根本沒質素可言，你要曬大相其實一般情況你又何時會將一張相放大至8R以上… |

如果只係影下家庭照or平日影朋友DC係最好選擇，一般3M相機可以洗到8R，效果與SLR分別不大，而且可以選好相才洗，又可以立即睇到效果，影到好為止，save 沖洗費，3-4R 一般$0.8 - 1.0，價錢同135一樣。
Otherwise 135 or 6x7, but wise many money to study, (like me). |

Agree with 藤井樹.
Also, I think if you have already been accustomed to the fast focusing power of 70-200/f4, you may find it difficult to accept the slow speed of reponse of DC.
I would suggest EOS 30 + 24-85mm (that will fit your budget).
In the future, you may upgrade to D-SLR body (when the price drops) and can still use the lenses that you've got for your SLR.

Alternatively, you may choose EOS 30 + 50mm/f1.4 , a very good starting point for beginner (such as me!!). |

If you really want to learn and practice, SLR is really the best choice! Some consumer DC even have no control over aperture and shutter speed! But aperture and shutter speed are the basics for taking a picture! You always have to pay for learning something, there's no way improving without scrafice!
I suggest EOS33 + 24-85 (+ 420EX). It's still within your budget I think. To get fully aware of the functions of the body, lens and flash, and what's breifly about photography, it can take you a year! So I don't think the investment is not worth. But be prepared to spend over $1,000 per month on films, film development and printing... yes, no free lunch...

It's hard to say which one is better for practice. DC or SLR.
Some DC, e.g. Canon G2 have many manual controls. You can easily compare the difference between different ISO setting. It also has different metering mode. Moreover, the EXIF data that captures in each photo also can give you good feedback.
In terms of aperture or shutter, G2 also gie you certain controls. As a beginner, you may be overwhelmed by these functions. Maybe only top SLR will have all these functions but of course you do not need all these functions to learn.
For SLR, all these learning takes patience,time and film cost and you need to write down in your notepad of the test you did.
Basically, if you spend time and effort, both tools are good. |

If you need unconutable among on test and review, DC is surely a winner.

By now, many DC has histogram and expose compensation, photo editing is not a must.
And, computer power is so large that it handle a 5Mpix file at ease, a lot simply than traditional darkroom and have batch functions.

I would like to give a suggest get a SLR will be better in this moment. Due to Digital camera still in developing and the price are too expansive. No doubt the Digital cameras are really useful but in the some condition SLR will much better than DSLR. Such as in the temperature interval very big Can not take at too bright often, because that will kill the CCD or reduction CCD working life and spend power very first. So in the beginning use traditional camera will be best choice. Such as me still waiting to buy DSLR because it not right time for me.
Above just my opinion.

I have different opinion if you are in digital process. If you scan films into computer, sometimes, it takes a lot of hard work. Moreover, sometimes you need to clean the dust and dirt. With digital, you do not need to clean and adjust for different film characteristics. Digital image is "cleaner". Of course, if you just send film to lab to print, you do not need to spend too much time on fixing.
(However, I don't like the digital "color". Sometimes, it is too "clean" and some "reds") |

DC or SLR 其實是毛個人需要, 你是要求高質素相片還是方便宜, 要求質素的話, 就不用懷疑買SLR, 待DSLR 價錢回落再買DSLR 就行 |

真的很少聽人講用數碼相機去學影相,傳統的SLR有齊所有配套和功能,任何的攝影題材都可以讓你有機會去嘗試。為何不由這裏開始?
遲點等到對攝影有更多興趣和需要,有閒錢想多玩一點,你必定會再增添多幾部相機或器材,數碼機、傻瓜、即影即有、用定焦鏡還是變焦鏡...等等,總之$$$$...
這樣說又如何?

我覺得一學攝影有兩個層次(最少), 一個是學操作相機或者熟習相機操作,
另一個是針對畫面各元素的學習. 無可厚非, 攝影要用相機就要學識操作,
但那一如學數學的加減乘除, 有它的基本意義但是很低層次. 學習畫面的
元素是將以相片(影像)為出發點, 由最簡單的一按即拍發展至靈活運用相
機以至拍出心想的畫面或是更能感動別人影像.
至這個題目上, SLR及DC向有所長, 但不一定是SLR好, 尤其是電腦相對於
黑房的普及, 數碼攝影可以令學習畫面元素變得更易及便宜. SLR系統的
確大, 但技資亦相對地大, 如以日常拍攝為例, 常用的鏡頭不外由24~200MM
左右, 以非職業拍攝而言, 一機兩鏡簡單做到, 又為何要龐大的系統作為
後盾呢? 在DC內, 要得到24~200比較難, 但實際上, CANON G2加WIDE及TELE
附加鏡, 已經大概做到, 更因為其大光圈的鏡頭及全開光圈之下有高質表
現, 是否一定比SLR為差呢?
由於我個人甚麼相機都用, 我更覺得甚麼相機都可以用來學攝影, 包括傻瓜
機及P&S的DC機, 學習中最難或是最能一生受用的, 就是畫面元素, 而不是
研究那部是DREAM CAM及其微小先進所帶來的畫面改變.
最後, 攝影不外乎只是記錄一個影像, 相機幾多花巧幾精湛亦不外乎光圈、
快門、測光的一個黑盒, 它是不會拍攝出精彩照片, 唯有作者的意念才會.

If your main point is on quality, I think you should got a traditional SLR, you will not satisfy with the quality of the DC photos at your budget, and you should reserve money for buying films and developing photos.
If you want to practice more, DC is convient in learning how to composite a good photo, but it is different from traditional SLR in many different ways, such as how your photos response to different lighting condition, DOF, even in how to veiw your photos (Most DC owner likes to view their photos in PC only as i know).
It is inevitable that DC is now becoming more and more popular, it will definitely cause great impact to general customers, prosumers and professional in both their ways of taking/developing photos and their faithless to traditional SLR or camera.
