Only the change in shutter speed is a more than
enough reason for me to buy it. Not to mention
the new coating on the lense. |

單睇相,CM介面方面未必豪華得過T2/TVS3(尤其係TVS3)
亦無TC-1果份高級感同精細
不過呢,起碼好過部minilux zoom.... |

OIC, I only love the photos taken with it. That"s what all I really wanted. The biggest drawback or problem with current Minilux is its" shutter speed. Max: 1/400sec. You cannot fully deploy its maximum aperture 2.4 with such a slow speed.
If you have ever tried to explore Minilux"s manual capabilities such as off-finder street photos, you will find a wonderland of photography.... ;p

snapshot我喜愛用TC-1,除左pre focus大聲少少之外接近完美,
其次係T2,夠快
minilux我無,zoom版我倒有一部,當後備旅行機用,除非部TVS3借左俾人,否則唔會帶出街....

1 CM = 2 Minilux
Is it worthy for these improvements?
(1) 1/400 s >> 1/1000 s
(2) improved coating
(3) addition of hot shoe
(4) made in Germany
(5) photo data shown in the viewfinder
(6) bigger viewfinder
(7) 1/2 step >> 1/3 step
(8) lighter in weight
but still no manual control of ISO...... |

I have Minilux now.........
The only reason for me to buy the CM is for collection........a good camera |

I"m surprised that no one here mentioned the EO2 problem in the Minilux. It"s a major drawback of the camera! The new CM will fix this problem. Just this is enough for the upgrade, not to mention that it"s made in Germany and has new lens coatings. |

I have heard about EO2 for years. Yet, I have never come across with it for the past few years. People say that EO2 is rarely a problem found in later batch of Minilux.
I heard that one of the main reasons for manufacturing LEICA-CM in Germany is to get rid of EO2, which is believed to be a by product of Pxxxxxxxx"s manufacturing process. (Sorry, I forget the web link discussing this point.) |

I agree with Cocheuk that EO2 getting fixed is a good reason to get an upgrade. Indeed, I found most of the improvements are significant. Shutter speed, EO2, better manual control and so on (new viewfinder, samll size...). To me, any one of these improvemenet is suffice to justify buying a new one. |

Really?! Janpanese goods are cheap comparable
to others. That"s why Janpanese ate up the world market beginning from late 60s. Just like people begin to use electronics
products produced in China now. (of course, there is a quality control gap between chinese products and janpanese product). It cannot be denied that most Janpanese are serious in work.
In indeed, most advanced medical appliances (electronics) are designed and produced in Germany. Most people will also think that French people are good at arts and food only, yet they never think that they are among the best in mathematics (esp, algebra), biological science and nuclear technology. Janpanese are very successful in exporting their culture too!

I am not offending anyone. I just want to tell you what I know about Europe (I have spent years on examining their culture and science education and have been there attaining academic conferences ;p

Yes, they may not be good in some sense.
But I have confidence in them. German people
are practical and conservative (very boring), they seldom go
for fancy things (that"s why they are not comparable
to French people in arts and why French people look
down at them). It means that German people will only
do things that they can manage. For instance, Leica asked Minolta to design zoom lense for them in late 60s or 70s. Now, they design it by themselves (after they know the tricks of the trade).
