Don't know what happened...just keep showing wrong code...
Priced at 2xxx...both Tamron SP 90/2.8 & Sigma 105/2.8 got good reviews...EF one costs 3xxx...
But...the sigma one has compatability problem with EOS 30...need a trip back to sole agent for firmware upgrade...
If the price difference is not vey large...and really enthusiat on macro photography...then choose EF...

EF 50 1.4 USM + Extension tube EF 12/25 is good enough for slight macro...
Or go for the 100/2.8 Macro USM version.

我上次試過，好好玩，放係個 50 1.8 上面，影朵一寸既花，可以去到成個畫面咁大。而質素都無乜大分別，晒左出黎亦都分辨唔到邊個用左 Close-up。拍攝時既感覺就好似加左塊 -1 既 Filter 咁，當然，幾睇你係用左塊質素好唔好既 Close-up 鏡既。
而且，當你用 Close-up 鏡時，基本上係得焦點清，旁邊既野，化到七彩。不彷睇下合唔合你心水先啦！
因為 Close-up 經濟實惠，好過你買左其他鏡之後唔合心水就浪費哂！
雖然我唔介意買二手鏡，由其係 100 2.8 ! 
而且 100 2.8 要成三千幾銀，而 Close-up 鏡好似都係兩百幾。一套三塊，鍾意點玩都得！

As mentioned, if you're really interested in macro, then go for a decent macro, like: EF 100/2.8, Tamron SP 90/2.8 and Sigma 105/2.8(mind the compatability problem). But if you're not that certain about how's your heat about macro, then maybe you could try extension tube. There are original Canon EF 12/25, and Kenko extension set in the market. The EF one(12 and 25 sold separately) costs about 6xx each(don't know the exact price), while the Kenko set(three tube in one set:12, 20 and 36) at about 7xx. I'm using the Kenko set with my little white. When in use, you can't focus to infinity but just a few feets distance. And remember to step down the aperture eg. f8 or smaller as the depth of field would be VERY shallow when wide open. The Kenko set is an AF one. Sorry I missed you point about 50 vs 100...
I prefer 100 over 50 as sometimes you can't get that close to bugs if you're using 50mm. My dream is 180...but...that's over 8000...

macro時，通常AF都唔係咁得，要手動兼頭動‥‥個頭向前向後郁黎對焦‥‥
100可以配腳架座，對我黎講比較有用，影人都唔錯，加上已有50/1.8‥‥所以我比較鍾意100‥‥

我都係買Extension tube 先. 等新年逗完利是先再買100 2.8都未遲. 唔該晒咁多位!  |

如不是常拍MACR, 我建議買VIVITAR/COSINA 100/3.5, 像是千四元, 有AF等.
在以後真是對MACRO不大興趣, 投資損失也不會太大, 因為MACRO是一個不常
拍的題材. 而此鏡的質素也不錯, 加上十分輕巧, 行山拍攝就十二分適合.
忽其他100MACRO細半級光圈其實不重要, 因為MACRO景深淺, 須要收小光圈
拍攝, 細半級光圈只影響對焦速度而已.
