I had few experience in taking dolphin on a yacht, after stopping the engine, our (me and dolphin) distance get closer, but only about 100m. So I think the distance will even greater to the coast.
I print the film to 4R, the size of the dolphins in the photos are very small, only a half of a 10 cent coin ...
My setting was : 80-200 + 2x
So I think you need to add 1 or even 2 2x t.c so that you can snap the dolphin successfully.
I also want to know which coast can see the dolphin, anybody knows ?

If luck,
go Fan Lau (south-west of Lantau Island).
when 2 fishing boat passing through (catching fish by net), watch the net in between. Dolphins will follow it and catch the fish .
(small fish can't be trapped by net) so dolphins eat the small fish.
but you need at least 400 + 2X.
