in my opinion i think there are two possible reasons:
1. You mentioned that when zoomed to 105 end the focusing speed was slow. It is because in the focal length of 105mm the depth of field between different objects are greater than at 24mm. Camera need to determine the difference between two objectives with large depth of field and that takes time. In addition, the focus censor would probably cover many different objects and camera need to decide the "pint-point" that you want and it takes calculation as well.
It is my experience that when using telephoto lens to photograph small subjects you better switch to single focus because camera will misunderstanding the proper subject by given wrong information from other sensors.
2. In 105mm end the aperature only has 5.6 which wouldn't have too much light come into contact with the sensor. it happens all the time in smaller aperature lens. |

對焦ㄉ物體訴橫ㄉ還訴直ㄉ
現場明暗
焦段ㄉ影響也訴有啦
較容易對到別ㄉ
但不至於會變慢吧
如果會ㄉ話
用100~400ㄉ人怎麼辦
叫他們用手調嗎^^
我ㄉ800si無何時
對焦速度都讓我挺滿意ㄉ

有啊！我特別選擇中央局部對焦...，而且選擇對比較大的咚咚..
可是..可是有時候就是看到鏡頭...跑來跑去的說....
主要是對不太到...合焦的速度有時粉慘...
還是我的800SI需要檢查勒？

can you please tell us the light condition when you test your equipment? whether it is dim or sunshine etc.
Have you checked your battery? I sometimes notice that Minolta's equipment is very sensitive to the freshness of power supply, especailly if you're using camera's battery compartment (not vertical handler's)
Or perhaps there is a compability problem with your 800si and 24-105. Since 24-105 is a D lens. that may means there would be a communication problem with your 800si. I sorry I don't familiar with the new D lens and its compability..
