I've been to Czech and I've done photo in very cold weather ( Noprthern Canada in Winter , say -40 or so ), what I would advice is the following
- Get a decent glove , Trekking style which allow your hand to freely move but keep it warm
- EOS-5, get a AA Battery Grip, and use Lithium or fresh battery. Prepare 2 or 3 set, one is in use and one keep warm inside your clothing. When Battery run low, switch the battery set. Then switch the cold one back into the clothing to warm them.
- a warming filter ( the ligh is usually very bluish in this season.
- Well if sunny, actually 100 ISO film is OK, remeber the snow is white, but you want fast film at the long dusk hours.
Last but not least, carry along a simple P&S, save changing lens. You will be too numbed to do this out in the cold ( well not really a good ideaq anyway .. )
