I am not a frequent user of NPH but have recently shot a few rolls during Winter Expo. I have not used X-tra before/
>>>>really outstanding, in terms of sharpness, color balance etc?
It's amazing considering it is a 400 film. Color is quite natural but whether you like it is a subjective thing. But at least you would not get weird colors. However, it seems the red color has some problems. Not sure if it is because of FDI that printed it.
>>>>>the cotrast is low. However, is it an all purpose film...for outdoor photo as well?
All purpose? Do you think there is an all purpose film?? A low contrast film usually does better on a sunny day. As a "400" film, it's convenient. (Many web comments suggest it to be rated 320)
>>>>only a compact camera, is it worth paying so high price to buy NPH? Then buy a roll of NPH and try Fuji-Xtra for the rest since many people in this forum have good comments on it. Even as a compact camera, why should you buy inferior films if you can afford it and like it.

if u want relative saturated color and fine grain, use K160VC, it will yield good result even using the FuJi lab, P.S. Kodak very often has promotion of 160VC, namely, coupons for direct print up to 20x30, costing u about $68 only, it's good bargain!!.. |
