NEW YORK -- More than 40 photographs owned by the descendants of Edward Weston will go on the auction block in April, where they are expected to fetch up to US$1.4 million (euro 960,000).
Weston, considered one of the most influential American photographers of the last century, is known for his images of natural forms, landscapes and nudes. One of his prints of a shell sold for US$1.1 million (euro750,000) at Sotheby's in October, setting a record for the artist. It was one of the few photographs to break the US$1 million (euro680,000) mark at auction, reflecting the growing interest in collecting photography, Sotheby's said.
