I own this new macro lense since 2 days now, and I have made some little tests. Awesome sharpness !

My first impressions...


Body quality : excellent, perhaps a little under the 180/3.5 (my impression !) ; it is a little lighter than its predecessor of 70 gramms, and shorter of 0.04 meters. It is delivered with a tripod collar and a rigid case very quite manufactured (similar to those which one finds with the other Sigma telelenses)

In my hands : The distance of work (between the frontal lense and the subject) is approximately of 0.19 meters at 1:1 (0.23 meters for the 180/3.5). Very ergonomical, the ring isn"t as smooth as I would like (my Canon 300/4 IS is better on this point). The integrated flash doesn"t produce solid drop shadow, even at 1:1 ; it"s a good thing.

Optical quality : Awesome ! On my mind it seems better than... my Sigma 50/2.8 EX Macro which is excellent too... I wish I will post some pics the next week-end because yesterday I haven"t very good conditions to test it (artificial light, died insect... ) ; the diffraction seems to appear at f/16, decreasing the sharpness.


Now I will quietly wait the week-end to try it on the ground !

沒記錯的話,這也是隻"IF"鏡頭喔 :D

現在手邊有一顆Sigma 180/3.5 IF HSM
鏡頭長度不會再改變的IF Macro鏡真的是很方便喔~
