Franklin
Frank.

Natural Charm
The Photographer
In Frank’s studio, we most often hear him yells: “just be natural, and that will do.”
Frank has shot for our movies the poster of “City without Baseball”, the album of “Permanent Residence”, the body paint portraits for “Amphetamine”. In all these works, Frank encourages the models to expose their charms in the most natural way, which is being naked.
Naturally, my films, my actors, and myself, can’t be more natural with Frank.
The Heroes
The poster boys of “City without Baseball”: Ron, Hong, Chung, Jason and Jacky, were not professional actors but veteran baseball players representing Hong Kong.
Sean, the male lead of “Permanent Residence”, looks too gentle to be a regular boxer and swimming team member.
Osman, another lead, is a member of EO2, the top dance group in Hong Kong. He also owns a dancing school and teaches. Guess how he attains such a heavenly body?
Byron is best known for his title in the “Mr. Hong Kong 2005”. But he has also been a martial artist, fitness trainer, swimming coach, diver, life guard…runs 100 meters in 11.3 seconds.
Tom looks gorgeous in any dress, as you can see from his ad everywhere. However, he first caught my sight surfing on the Shek-O beach of Hong Kong.
Athletics is the life of men, and their life is written on their body.
The Films
“City without Baseball” is about Hong Kong and her baseball delegation.
“Permanent Residence” is the life story of a man who indulges in death and passionately falls in love with a straight guy.
“Amphetamine” is still in progress, so I shall not unveil too much at the moment, except Byron and Tom.
People talk about the beauty and nudity of the actors in my films, and I want to tell some unusual stories, improbable love, impossible life, for they have been so real, the role, the scene, the sights, the expression, the dialogue, everything that happened so nakedly and could never fade away from the memory.
Therefore, we have got this exhibition.

Franklin Lau
Playing around with metallic person merging from dark colored water The magic is that it has the extreme contrast of light
Metallic paint on the skin and muscle changes tone Reflecting lights make it dramatic. Metallic color has the dynamic range from white to black
If it is not shine on it is actually black.
It is about merging two extreme personalities about coming out from the dark about pain and self struggle about what lies underneath the dark
Franklin was given a camera at the age of 8, winner of joint school photo competition at the age of 17, working as a commercial photographer for 20 years since finishing college. Passion still burning.
